PLANT is a design studio, online shop and wholesale distributor founded by Holly McWhorter and Bjarke Ballisager.
We are based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in New York City, and Holly and Bjarke have designed all the products available on this site either together or independently. They share a passion for green design practices, Scandinavian modern lines and a good sense of humor.
Holly is a native of Philadelphia but has been a die-hard New Yorker since 1993. Her additional professional background includes interior architecture and freelance writing, among other things.
Bjarke, a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, is also a licensed architect. He comes to product design by way of a longtime passion for it.
PLANT’s spice kits and bodywashes are made in New York State by teams of adults with physical, medical, mental and psychiatric handicaps, at nonprofit workshops whose mission is to give them employment opportunities and training.
As of March 2013, PLANT now also offers comprehensive interior design and decorating services. Please email us for further information.
